Members of the Society of Professional Building
Designers are required to conduct their professional practice
in a manner that will command the respect and confidence of
their clients, suppliers, colleagues, and the general
public. The conduct of every member of the Society is
governed by the following code.

SPBD MEMBERS:

Shall conduct
themselves honestly and professionally

Shall conform to the laws and regulations
governing business and building design in the state in
which they practice, giving full consideration to
life, safety, and the public welfare.

Shall at no time knowingly damage the
reputation or business of another designer by word or
deed, nor knowingly reproduce the work of
others.

Will provide a high level of professional
design services on the basis of a fee, salary, or
compensation, provided the professional services be
performed completely and in the best interest of the
client without sacrifice of professional
integrity. Will , where feasible, before
entering into a contract with a client, clearly define
the services to be performed and the method of
compensation for these services.

Shall consider his or her financial
responsibility an obligation to the profession.

Will encourage the networking of knowledge
and information between SPBD members, students, and
other related professionals.

Will consider it to be professional
responsibility to be actively involved in community
projects designed to improve the community and/or the
environment. |

Any violation of this code, or future
approved revisions of it by the board of SPBD, or any
action detrimental to the Society and the profession as
a whole, shall be deemed unprofessional conduct, subject
to discipline by the board, up to, and including
possible revocation of the certification and/or
membership of the
designer. | |
